Three-digit validation code
When you order from Crittenden Estate, you will be asked for your credit card number and the expiry date on your card. In addition, you will be asked for a three-digit validation code. The code is located on the back of the card. The validation code provides an extra layer of verification.
The code is unique to your card. It is not embossed like your credit card number nor is it saved in your cards magnetic strip, so it is very difficult for fraudsters to access the number electronically or from a card imprint. So, when you provide your validation code to a merchant via the Internet or over the phone the merchant has additional proof that you have the card in your possession when the purchase was made.
The code is located on the signature panel at the back of your card. Although the full number is longer than three digits you only need provide the last three numbers when requested.
