Announcement from The Crittenden Family

We are delighted to announce that from June 1st 2025 we will be regaining ownership of our onsite restaurant, currently trading as Stillwater.

The restaurant was originally established in the early 1990s by our mum, Margaret Crittenden, but has for the last two decades been owned and operated by Zac Poulier, trading as Stillwater.

The restaurant will be closing from June to allow for significant renovations and rebranding over the winter months and the creation of an exciting new dining destination, with an opening planned for spring 2025.

We are looking forward to having all businesses on the property back under the management of the Crittenden family and can’t wait to share more details as we embark on this exciting transformation to establish what we hope will become a leading dining destination on the Mornington Peninsula.

If you have questions or bookings at Stillwater that you’d like to discuss with Zac please contact him directly on at manager@stillwateratcrittenden.com.au or call 03 5981 9555.

For Cellar Door, wine membership or other wine related queries please reach out to us at winecentre@crittendenwines.com.au or 03 5987 3800.

Another Round: Savagnin

Mike Bennie recounts the fascinating story of how Savagnin came to be in Australia....and highlights his 3 Savgnin picks, including of course our Cri de Coeur version made in the "Sous Voile" style (under flor).

"Savagnin stumbled into Australia through a twist of fate when a group of ambitious winemakers, eager to plant the popular Iberian variety albariño, found that the material sent to Australia by the supplying nursery was actually the distinct Jura variety savagnin." Read Mike Bennie's full story featured on Halliday's Wine Companion.

Specifically, he says about the Crittenden Cri de Coeur Savagnin 2019 Sous Voile - "This is perhaps the richest, densest release of this wine, but contains all the freshness of cooling, saline acidity, the tell-tale fino sherry-like lift, among stewed cinnamon apples, ginger and crème brûlée. Power and presence, and something quite extraordinary. For long cellaring too."

Note that due to limited quantities and the nuanced style of this wine we don't sell it via the website. If you are interested in purchasing please contact us directly via email - winecentre@crittendenwines.com.au or phone 03 5987 3800.

Grapegrower and Winemaker Article

Meg Riley from Grapegrower & Winemaker Magazine speaks with Rollo to learn more about his esteemed Cri de Coeur Savagnin.

"Crittenden have long been pioneers - of organic vititculture, sustainable production and varietal expressions in winemakering. After it was revealed that a mix up meant that their pioneering "Albarino" was in fact Savagnin, Crittenden became pioneers of that variety instead."
