A switch to sustainable viticultural practices, top grafting with new clones and a change to cane pruning methods have been integral in the development of our winemaking over the last two decades. In 2012 the decision was made to introduce a super premium ranges of wines....The Cri de Coeur (Cry of the Heart) label is made in tiny quantities and perfectly showcases the pinnacle of our viticultural and winemaking efforts spanning over 40 years and two generations.
Tasting notes: Dried fruits with a lingering nutty, sherry like aroma attributed to the wine's extended ageing under flor. On the palate you'll find spices and sweet luscious golden fruits, all balanced with an acid spine.
Drink with: Sweet spiced pastries, fruit tarts, chocolate, milawa blue and washed rind cheeses.
Cellaring: Will cellar for many years to come, but ready to drink now!

It’s total indulgence to make Macvin when your Savagnin Sous Voile is in such high demand and so is the experience of tasting it. Unmitigated indulgence. The 2018 Savagnin flor wine is blended with the fresh 2022 juice and then fortified to 17%. To finish a meal, this is as close as it gets to losing yourself into the glass, forgetting where you are, who you are with and floating away on a vinous cloud to beverage heaven. Well it is for me. Pineapple jam, baked quince pie, dried orange and kombucha. Grated candlenut, swaying kelp and shards of hazelnut brittle. Popped mustard seeds, honeysuckle and a palate of baked parsnips, lemon curd and fresh guava. I could go on and on. This is world class Macvin and a celebration of wine. Drink on its own or with homemade bitter honeycomb and ice cream.

The fourth incarnation of this excellent wine was made by siphoning off some 2018 savagnin under flor, adding sweet ‘22 savagnin juice then fortifying the blend. Lovely golden amber glint to the colour; full of honeycomb and quince paste, grilled nuts and seaweed with moreish aldehydes and wafts of antique furniture fragrance. The palate is clean and lively with the acidity curtailing the sweetness and evening the palate. The golden fruit flavour is very much at the forefront, making this absurdly fresh.
